A Mechanical Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Concord, NC area. This role supports the development and equipment management group by maintaining CAD drawings, managing equipment documentation, resolving obsolescence issues, and assisting with hands-on equipment changes and troubleshooting.

responsibilities:
- Maintain accuracy of 2D and 3D equipment drawings following ASME and company drafting standards.
- Generate part drawings and models to support minor equipment changes related to process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to identify, resolve, and document obsolescence issues.
- Ensure accuracy of equipment BOMs, documentation, and stock room parts using Engineering and Document Change processes.
- Assist development teams with proof-of-concept and improvement projects through hands-on interaction with automation equipment and follow-up monitoring.
- Interact with machine shops to clarify drawings and address machining concerns.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automated equipment as needed.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault or similar 3D CAD software.
- Windows PC and Office Suite (Excel, Word) proficiency.
- strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools and measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical control systems (preferred, not required).
- A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology or A.O.S. in Drafting/CAD.
- 3-5 years' experience with automated equipment systems, including air cylinders, valves, sensors, motors, and drives.
