Global industrial belt fastener manufacturer within the Greater Naperville IL area is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their team. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in programming/troubleshooting PLC's (Mitsubishi & Allen Bradley), robots (Fanuc, Epson & UR), and vision systems (Cognex and Keyence). This knowledge will also be applied to the controls engineer team while working cross functionally with other departments. Candidates must have a background in leadership. A Bachelor's degree within Electrical Engineering is required.

responsibilities:
- Lead Automation Engineering team
- Mentor and collaborate with engineers and technicians to successfully execute manufacturing related projects
- Work with CI team to optimize existing manufacturing processes for improved safety, quality, delivery and cost goals by utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Provide information as needed for important manufacturing decisions involving calculating production, labor and material costs and estimating future requirements by taking into account, capability, capacity, cost, upstream and downstream processes and effects on total manufacturing system.
- Contribute to the development and review of electrical, wiring and safety standards.
- Recommend the purchase of new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to improve operations.
- Recommend maintenance procedures, spare parts inventory etc. required to maximize production efficiency of production equipment and minimize their downtime.
- Design and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
- Program & troubleshoot PLC's in structured text and ladder logic, for new and existing equipment.
- Perform programming, troubleshooting and updating on robots, vision systems etc, for new and existing equipment.
