A Development Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Midland, NC area. The Development Technician collaborates with teams to design, install, and optimize optical fiber manufacturing equipment and processes, ensuring enhanced product quality and cost efficiency.

responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teams to develop and enhance optical fiber manufacturing equipment and controls for improved product attributes and cost reduction.
- Support the improvement of processes or equipment implemented by R&D and assist in developing new equipment capabilities from concept to manufacturing demonstration.
- Design, install, and troubleshoot existing manufacturing equipment to enhance capabilities, adapt to new products, and scale up for increased capacity or cost efficiency.
- Utilize fundamental machine design principles to work with equipment design engineers and manufacturing teams, defining and executing testing protocols to validate equipment capabilities.
- Participate in functional or matrix leadership teamwork to achieve project objectives.
- Assist in running experiments, interpreting results, and supporting the startup of new equipment.
- Provide training and documentation to facilitate the transfer of new processes and equipment.
- Good process and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Mechanically and electrically inclined (aptitude for both).
- Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary.
- Sound decision making and prioritization skills.
- strong people skills / works well in a team environment.

- Good written and verbal communication skills (detailed oriented).
- Two year electrical/mechanical, mechatronics or similar technical degree (or 5 years experience in lieu of degree considered).
- 2+ years of work experience in a technical field.
