A Senior Instrument and Controls Designer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Manassas, VA area. This Senior Instrument and Controls Designer role supports advanced facility projects by designing P&IDs, control systems, and instrumentation while coordinating with clients, managing project timelines, and ensuring quality technical deliverables in a semiconductor/industrial setting.

responsibilities:
- Develop Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) using ANSI/ISA S5.1 symbology.
- Design panels including layout and I/O wiring diagrams.
- Specify control/monitoring devices and valves, including valve sizing.
- Collaborate with clients to develop and revise Sequence of Operation (SOO) documents for semiconductor equipment.
- Review construction submittals and respond to RFIs.
- Manage project schedules and delivery timelines.
- Prepare detailed and accurate technical reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
- strong understanding of P&IDs, analog/digital/relay wiring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and writing industrial SOO.
- Skilled in instrument specification and creating ISA datasheets.
- Hands-on experience with pressure, temperature, flow, and level device installation/calibration.
- Industrial networking experience.
- Knowledge of industrial control panel design/building.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Background in semiconductor or general industrial facility environments.
- Familiarity with industrial automation, electrical power, and building automation system design.
- Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation.
- 10+ years of Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design experience.
