An Environmental Scientist Professional is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Syracuse, NY area. This job supports field and compliance activities by conducting inspections, collecting and managing environmental samples and data, preparing technical reports, and ensuring project schedules and regulatory requirements are met.

responsibilities:

Conduct environmental inspections across various project sites.

Collect, manage, and maintain field data accurately.

Collect environmental samples (e.g., water, soil, waste), including:

Planning sampling activities

Conducting field collection

Using proper methods and protocols

Completing chain-of-custody (COC) documentation

Maintaining detailed field records

Prepare and contribute to technical reports.

Maintain schedules for sampling activities to ensure permit compliance.

Enter and manipulate data in Microsoft Excel.

Use Microsoft Outlook regularly for communication and scheduling.

Operate tablets and digital tools to complete and submit e-forms for field documentation.

Balance independent work with team collaboration across multiple projects.

Manage tasks effectively under strict deadlines.



Qualifications:

• 1 to 3 years of technical experience in relevant environmental science areas.

• High level of initiative and positive attitude toward changing project demands.
  
  
  
  
• Ability to work independently and within teams, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
  
  
  
  
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geosciences, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related field (preferred, not required).
  
  
  
  
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with 8-hour annual refresher (preferred, not required).
  
  
  
  
• Valid driver's license required.
