A Buyer is needed for a company that transports, distributes and generates energy, with diversified assets that include a balance between crude oil and natural gas in the Houston, TX area. The Buyer is responsible for executing purchase requisitions, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring procurement compliance while delivering value and mitigating risk across supply chain operations.

responsibilities:
- Review and process purchase requisitions for goods/services in compliance with procurement procedures.
- Submit Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to approved suppliers and contractors.
- Communicate with suppliers, contractors, project managers, engineers, and consultants regarding procurement requirements and order status.
- Maintain records per company policy, auditing standards, and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Release approved purchase orders to vendors.
- Manage and execute change orders as required by stakeholders.
- Conduct closeout activities for procured materials/services in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Direct spend toward preferred suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Experience as a buyer within a Supply Chain environment.
- Basic understanding of supply chain principles, market conditions, and procurement categories (materials and services).
- strong verbal and written communication within team environments.
- Ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.
- High sense of urgency and ability to operate in ambiguous settings.
- Familiarity with procurement policies, SOX compliance, and industry practices.
- General understanding of legal/contract terms and conditions.
- Proficiency in desktop tools including MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
