A Life Safety Systems Designer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the San Jose, CA area. This Safety Systems Designer role involves verifying and modeling complex fire/life safety and security systems for high-tech facilities using AutoCAD and Revit, while ensuring code compliance and collaborating with clients, engineers, and construction staff.

responsibilities:
- Provide design verification and act as the front-line liaison to clients and construction teams.
- Attend and participate in daily progress meetings and maintain verbal/written communications.
- Coordinate LSS documentation and support multi-discipline design teams.
- Use AutoCAD and Revit MEP to create 3D models of Life Safety and Security Systems.
- Design systems including Fire Alarm, Toxic Gas Management, Intrusion Detection, and HPM Leak Detection.
- Perform code compliance checks (NFPA, ICC) and basic calculations for designs.
- Specify equipment under direction of engineering staff.
- Collaborate with global teams to maximize design and digital technology impact.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of AutoCAD experience (Revit experience preferred).
- Experience designing systems such as Fire Alarm, Fire Protection, Voice Evacuation, Gas Detection, VESDA, Access Control, and CCTV.
- NICET Level III certification.
- 5-10 years of systems design experience.
- Familiarity with codes and standards: IFC, IBC, NFPA 70, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 13.
- Experience with Fire/Life Safety systems and related manufacturer's equipment.
- Industrial design background.
