A Machine Vision Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This role supports manufacturing by developing and deploying image processing and machine learning tools to analyze production data, enhance quality control, and train staff on technical systems for glass and ceramics inspection.

responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the measurements team to manipulate and analyze production data.
- Train and deploy ML models to interpret measurement system data.
- Transition projects from development phase to manufacturing-ready solutions.
- Create and maintain documentation for software and procedures.
- Train staff (engineering, maintenance, operations) to operate and maintain tools.
- strong programming in C# and Python.
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software architecture.
- Experience in training Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and traditional Machine Learning (ML).
- Skilled in data retrieval, plotting, and analysis.
- Familiarity with image processing algorithms: blob analysis, edge finding, morphology, feature extraction, classification, and metrology.
- strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills using MS Office.
- Experience with image processing tools (Halcon, OpenCV).
- Background in statistical analysis and Manufacturing Equipment Engineering (MEE) concepts.
- Ability to work with Database Management Systems (DBMS).
- Knowledge of metrology, inspection, and product quality processes.
- Experience in optical measurement systems: cameras, lighting, lasers, image analysis, 3D imaging.
- Understanding of physical optics principles.
- Bachelor's degree required (no substitutions).
- MS or PhD preferred in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, EE, ECE, or Optics.
- 3-5 years of experience in relevant technical areas.
