Our client, a leading heavy underground utility contractor, is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage field operations on utility construction projects. The ideal candidate will lead day-to-day job site activities to ensure all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to company standards. This role involves direct supervision of crews, subcontractors, and coordination with project managers and clients.

responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage all field activities for utility construction projects (water, sewer, storm drain, gas, electric, piping, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
- Schedule and coordinate crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
- Monitor project timelines, productivity, and quality to ensure project objectives are met
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, engineers, and clients
- Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, time sheets, and field logs
- Identify and resolve field issues or delays in real time
- Assist in procurement and logistics planning
- Support budgeting and cost control measures
- 5+ years of experience in utility construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of underground utilities and infrastructure construction
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and best safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- OSHA 30 certification
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Experience with public works and DOT projects
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
