Our client is seeking a skilled PCB Lead Designer to join their team in supporting the development of cutting-edge radio communication equipment used by the military and first responders.
In this role, PCB Designer will play a key part in layout design activities, using advanced design software to create, modify, review, and validate layouts for rigid, flex, and rigid-flex printed circuit boards. This indiudal will also mentor new and less experienced designers in all elements of PCB design.

responsibilities:
- Use Mentor PADS layout software to develop and revise PCB designs, integrating inputs from schematics, mechanical constraints, and manufacturing requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional design teams to resolve issues in fabrication, assembly, and testing, using tools like Valor NPI for fabrication and manufacturability checks.
- Design both standard and complex PCB layouts across various board technologies, including RF, digital, analog, power supply, and mixed-signal designs.
- Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and detailed drawings, while ensuring proper PLM file structure and change incorporation.
- Develop PCB stackups and perform impedance modeling for advanced designs, applying best practices in layout methodologies specific to the board technology.
- Mentor junior PCB designers, providing technical guidance and support as needed.
- Address supplier inquiries related to technical specifications and requirements of PCB part numbers.
- Conduct peer reviews of complex PCB layouts to ensure design quality and compliance with standards.
- Create and update PCB layout design guidelines to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with industry best practices
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years or prior relevant PCB layout design experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related PCB design experience.
- Must have experience mentoring and onboarding less experienced and early career PCB Designers
- Experience with peer reviews of PCB layout designs
- Knowledge of the PCB design value chain: schematics, materials, fabrication, assembly, and related design and simulation software tools is preferred
- Knowledge of the PCB design elements: schematic, BOM, mechanical, fabrication, assembly, components, and all related files and documentation is preferred
