A Fire and Protection Engineer is needed for a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company in the Overland Park, KS area. The Fire Protection Engineer ensures code-compliant, high-quality fire protection solutions for complex industrial and utility facilities by evaluating requirements, communicating with stakeholders, and leading the development of detailed specifications and system designs.

responsibilities:
- Apply and interpret state and local codes (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA).
- Communicate fire protection requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop code/hazard analysis reviews, fire protection specs, P&IDs, and hydraulic calculations.
- Review sprinkler/alarm system drawings and calculations for compliance.
- Coordinate with city/local officials and apply for variances as needed.
- Independently maintain and apply quality-focused engineering practices.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and policies.
- Maintain a strong culture of safety.
- Experience with fire protection in power, oil & gas, water, or data center facilities.
- strong communication and customer focus.
- Skills in scheduling, planning, conflict resolution, and dealing with ambiguity.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design and applicable standards.
- Intermediate understanding of construction, procurement, contract administration, and quality programs.
- Bachelor's or Master's in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant fire protection engineering experience.
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- In pursuit of or already hold a PE license (Fire Protection or Mechanical).
