Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive coverage investigations and analyses to develop detailed resolution plans.
- Build strong relationships with customers through telephone interactions. Investigate policy coverage, determine causes of loss, document activities, and resolve claims efficiently and accurately.
- Analyze and resolve coverage issues by reviewing policies in detail and applying them to individual claims. Negotiate settlements for limited monetary claims with supervisor approval.
- Create and execute detailed investigative plans, including scene investigations (e.g., photos, diagrams, blueprints), interviews, official reports (e.g., police, fire, weather), and ownership documentation (e.g., tax liens, judgments).
- Conduct thorough damage assessments, including appraisals, estimates, business records, invoices, and purchase receipts. Determine repair/replacement methods, verify ownership, and apply any policy limitations.
- Establish voice-to-voice communication within 24 hours of claim receipt. Maintain effective and timely communication with customers throughout the claims process.
- Work with Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Subrogation teams to address questionable claims and subrogation opportunities. Assist in preparing files for litigation, trials, or subrogation as needed.
- Mentor and train junior examiners as appropriate. Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Handle authority requests in the absence of a supervisor.
