Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain case files; track deadlines and monitor calendars; document actions and input information into case files; confirm case progress with the attorney.
- Electronically file critical documents on time; send out letters and pleadings.
- Communicate with relevant parties in the case, including attorneys, court clerks, and other personnel; schedule depositions, prepare and send summonses and subpoenas, draft complaints, prepare and file discovery requests, and generate responses to opposing counsel; provide and update status reports.
- Keep clients updated on case developments as directed by the attorney.
- Track case costs and billable hours using billing software (LMS), working with the team.
- Organize checks for filing fees, vendor invoices, and attorney reimbursements.
- Prepare case summaries, conference materials, pleadings, and manage discovery responses; coordinate materials for team review.
- Support trial preparation by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, and taking notes during pre-trial meetings.
- Reach out to state and federal agencies as needed for assistance or information.
- Perform various administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, transcription, document copying, database management, answering and directing calls, greeting clients, booking travel for attorneys, and other organizational tasks.
