Major manufacturing company located in Plainville, CT is currently hiring for an EHS Specialist.  The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, administering and sustaining an effective environmental, health, and safety (EHS) process through risk reduction strategies and management system implementation.   The EHS Specialist is the on-site face of safety for the business, working directly with managers and associates across the facility to deploy pro-active safety programs consistent with a world class corporation.

salary: $64,999 - $65,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Implement all aspects of the EHS system.
• Improve EHS workplace performance by promoting an incident-free workplace, and identifying and mitigating EHS risk in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies, and ISO standards.
• Schedule and present all necessary EHS training for employees and ensure compliance and understanding.
• Guide and direct assigned operating company toward compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance policies.
• Facilitate and engage operating company team and team members to drive projects that will lead to reductions in accidents, energy, water usage and waste minimization.
• Ensure timely submittal of required federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulatory reports.
• Lead Safety Committee and facilitate team meetings as appropriate for the operating company.
• Conduct inspections and audits throughout the entire manufacturing facility to identify existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures.
• Lead first aid response team, coordinate annual certifications and conduct monthly meetings.

         Conduct and document incident investigations with root cause/countermeasures, and maintain OSHA recordkeeping
