Responsibilities
- Utilizes advanced knowledge of legal terminology, word, and information processing software. Understands district and circuit court rules/protocols.
- Applies knowledge of the various aspects of litigation support, including but not limited to, scanning, OCRing, and saving files in the shared drive folder.
- Acts as liaison with local court agencies, clients, and the general public. Receives, screens, and refers phone calls and greets in-person visitors.
- Screens incoming mail and scans it to the client’s digital file. Prints copies of pleadings or notices, drafts corresponding cover letters, and mails to clients.
- Maintains general unit calendar. Sends weekly email with court calendar and/or filing deadlines, consistent with unit protocols.
- Participates in case management functions, including conflicts checks and calendaring. Communicates with the clerk's office staff on a daily basis regarding docketing of initial appearances and other hearings. Notifies unit staff regarding scheduled initial appearances.
- Assists in preparation and filing of pleadings, motions and briefs, correspondence and memoranda.
- Organizes case files for AFDs and is responsible for other case management functions as assigned, which may include opening and closing files and keeping records related to bond statistics.
- Assists with procuring supplies, equipment, furnishings, and professional contract services. Monitors supply inventory.
