Responsibilities
- Support molecular disease phenotyping workflows and applied plant pathology assays.
- Extracting DNA from various plant, fungal and nematode tissues, processing DNA samples, verifying DNA quality and quantity, running quantitative PCR experiments and performing other various tasks for different molecular workflows including molecular cloning and supporting leaf disc-based assays.
- Maintain experiments within growth chambers including cleaning and maintenance of area. Work will focus on plant care; planting, watering, disease application, rating of plant diseases, and data collection.
- Plant pathology screening of nematodes.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 3-6 years of experience of related experience.
- Experience working with micropipettes, quantitative PCR, molecular cloning, plant maintenance, landscaping or nursery experience, aseptic/sterile technique working in laminar flow or bio-control hoods
- Proficient with computer software; e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in microbiology techniques, fungal or nematode plant pathology is desired.
