Job Summary: We are seeking a Local Dispatcher to join our team in Savannah, GA. This role is responsible for coordinating logistics, ensuring timely deliveries, and handling payroll operations for drivers. The ideal candidate will have experience in dispatching and customer service within the logistics and transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch company drivers and owner-operators, providing clear directions and ensuring on-time arrivals.
- Monitor shipments and provide customers with timely updates.
- Process driver payroll, ensuring accuracy in pay calculations and paperwork.
- Respond to emails and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Perform yard checks and oversee container movement to and from the port.
- Assist with driver hiring, answering questions, and providing support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Experience in dispatching within the logistics/transportation industry.
- Proficiency in payroll processing and data entry.
- Organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with logistics software, GPS systems, and multi-line phone systems.
- Knowledge of port operations and container logistics is a plus.
