Responsibilities
- Stay current with industry advancements by researching new methodologies to implement cutting-edge technologies in the fabrication of orthopedic implants and instruments.
- Design, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs; create fixtures, set-up sheets, and specify part holding techniques, tooling, speeds, and feeds. Verify programs prior to release for production.
- Assist with machine setup and operations until the first lot is completed and meets customer acceptance criteria.
- Identify required special tooling and ensure timely ordering to support production needs.
- Develop product and process specifications, along with other necessary internal documentation.
- Strive for proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating a variety of CNC machines.
- Effectively manage tool life to maximize machine uptime and reduce manual intervention.
- Use project management skills to schedule tasks, conduct meetings, and document minutes with actionable follow-ups.
- Mentor less experienced team members, including manufacturing engineers and technicians.
- Review engineering change requests and oversee the preparation, implementation, and documentation of all change notices.
- Participate in contract reviews, identify drawing discrepancies, and suggest design modifications to enhance manufacturability.
- Contribute to design-for-manufacturing sessions, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement.
