Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand specifications and instructions
- Cutting metal into the correct shape and prepare materials for welding. They may also grind and clean metal.
- Using torches and power supplies to heat, melt, and mix metals to create a joint. They may use manual, semi-automatic, electric, gas, or spot welding equipment.
- Inspecting materials and structures for welding, and test and inspect welded surfaces for flaws.
- Maintaining welding equipment and machinery, and ensure they are in a safe condition.
