Responsibilities
A Shipping Manager oversees the shipment and delivery of goods, ensuring efficient and timely transportation. Key responsibilities include:
Logistics Coordination: Plan and coordinate shipments, ensuring schedules align with company and customer requirements. Team Management: Supervise shipping staff, assign tasks, and provide training as needed. Inventory Oversight: Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or delays. Documentation: Ensure accuracy in shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork. Vendor Management: Work with carriers and suppliers to negotiate contracts, rates, and service levels. Compliance: Ensure adherence to shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Cost Control: Optimize shipping methods to reduce costs without compromising quality. Problem Solving: Address delays, damaged goods, or other shipping issues promptly. Performance Monitoring: Track key metrics like delivery times, costs, and efficiency, and implement improvements. Customer Service: Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve shipping-related inquiries or complaints.
A Shipping Manager requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with experience in logistics or supply chain management.
