Responsibilities
Position Overview:
Responsible for setting up and operating various metalworking machines within a machine shop environment to produce high-quality parts.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with manual machining processes, equipment capabilities, and routine maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints with precision.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proven mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet production goals and maintain efficiency.
- Operate metalworking machinery to cut, shape, and finish parts according to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts meet precise tolerances.
- Choose appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine settings for each task.
- Adjust machining parameters such as speed, feed rate, and cutting depth to optimize performance.
- Monitor machine operations to detect and correct issues affecting quality or accuracy.
- Inspect completed components to verify adherence to required specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and programmers to troubleshoot machining challenges.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed to ensure optimal operation.
- Accurately complete and document work orders for each job.
- Maintain a safety-conscious mindset and adhere to all workplace protocols.
- Foster a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
