Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines – Perform troubleshooting on engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and electrical components.
- Conduct preventative maintenance – Perform routine inspections, oil changes, fluid checks, and tune-ups to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Use diagnostic tools and software – Identify engine issues using computerized diagnostic equipment like Cummins INSITE, CAT ET, or Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems – Troubleshoot and service hydraulic lifts, pumps, and air brake systems.
- Perform brake, suspension, and drivetrain repairs – Replace worn-out components, align wheels, and ensure safe braking performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations – Follow OSHA and DOT guidelines, handle hazardous materials properly, and maintain clean work areas.
- Weld and fabricate parts when needed – Use MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques for frame repairs and custom modifications.
- Document repairs and communicate with supervisors – Maintain accurate records of work performed and discuss needed repairs or maintenance with management.
