The Material Handling Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of material and product throughout the facility, utilizing both forklifts and overhead cranes as directed. This role requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

salary: $41,600 - $52,000 per year

work hours: 6 PM - 6 AM

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of forklift operation and safety procedures.
• Thorough understanding of crane capacities, accessory equipment, and rigging techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to safely move large and/or unusually shaped steel plate using both forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to accurately calculate the weight of materials.
• Determine the weight of materials and select/operate forklifts and cranes with the appropriate capacity.
• Properly secure material on forklifts and assist/direct riggers in securing material on cranes before movement.
• Maintain constant awareness of surroundings and co-workers to ensure a safe working environment. Provide clear communication and advisement to all personnel in the vicinity before moving material with an overhead crane.

The essential functions of this role include:

wearing steel toe shoes

working in a non-temperature controlled environment

manual lifting up to 40lbs

standing for 8 hours at one time

working up to 15 hrs of overtime per week

working weekends
