job summary:
Material Handler (Order Filler, Picker) in warehouse operations is responsible for performing a variety of tasks that support the processing of returned/recalled items on behalf of a retailer or manufacturer. The Material Handler position requires high attention to detail and ability to read, understand and follow standard operating procedures specific to this position. -Helping to Scan products when needed -Lift and move boxes to and/or from the scanning lines -Open boxes (or other containers) of returned/recalled items with a box cutter -Visually match or identify the Return Authorization (RA) information on the outside of the container to the paperwork and specific items within the container to verify that it matches -Follow instructions for handling any discrepancies noted -Prepare paperwork for scanning by smoothing folds and removing staples; enter additional information to the system as prompted -Place items processed into a tote; prepare a placard with RA and tote barcode for scanning process -When scanning process is complete, add totes to a pallet, label the pallet for storage; move pallets to storage as directed -Stock empty totes at scanning lines and remove trash from scanning area as directed -Always maintain a clean and orderly workstation and area -Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands or arms. -Regularly required to talk or hear and read instructions on a computer monitor and/or printed on paper. -Regularly required to stand, kneel or stoop, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. -Regularly required to view items at an extremely close range and must be able to adjust and readjust focus. -Regularly required to remain in a standing position more than 2 hours at a time.
