job summary:
The function of and operator is to use the provided equipment to safely and proficiently manufacture our products. To do this an operator must understand, abide by, and utilize the training, policies and procedures made by the company. This will include raw material handling, forklift operations, warehousing, chemical spill clean-up, sampling, open product handling, packaging, and facility cleaning. The work environment is hot and cold, noisy, dusty, exposed to chemicals, and requires substantial physical capability and mental acuity. The Plant operator work area is an industrial chemical plant. Operators in the course of their duties will be exposed to chemicals, machinery, noise, dust, and hot/cold environments. Work assignments will include cleaning and basic janitorial work. Operators report to the operations lead and plant manager. - Operators work schedule is dictated by production and will generally be 5 days a week (0700 to 1600), during scheduled weekly production times. Occasional over time is required. Essential: - Must be able to travel up and down stairs, in and out of containment areas, in narrow aisles. - Must be able to lift, carry and maneuver at least 40 pounds. - Must be able to wear a respirator for extended periods. - Must be able to work in proximity to active electromagnets. Training will be provided to incumbents: - Must understand and use FIFO (first in and first out), hazardous chemical operations, computer operating systems and safe handling practices. - Must have and understanding of and use GMP, GDP, sampling procedures and tools, decontamination and contamination prevention practices, and safe work practices.
