job summary:
You will be responsible for the full operation of the burning department including (but not limited to) dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems. You will be responsible for operation, adjustments, preventive maintenance, repair, quality checks, and shift and daily reports. Job Requirements Must work in a safe manner. Obey safety signs and warnings Must be able to learn the full operation of the burning department and DLA. Must monitor kilns and make adjustments as needed. Make daily checks on equipment and repair or report to supervisor as needed. Must be able to learn the full operation of the automatic transfer cars. Must participate in dept. housekeeping and meet standards. Must be able to fill in for other department employees when needed. Must learn basic computer skills. Must be able to do the daily reports. Perform daily brick quality tests. Must be able to obtain forklift license. Knowledge and ability to use hand tools to adjust, repair, and perform preventive maintenance as needed. Repair and Rebuild Kiln Cars. Change Fan Belts and sheaves. Troubleshoot issues related to kiln operations and/or assist. May be asked to perform minor maintenance tasks in other departments. Expectations to train new employee's is implied. Educational, Experience, & Skill Requirements Hardhat, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes etc. required. Ability and willingness to help throughout the Plant where needed. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 20 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to twist, stoop, and bend regularly. Must be able to climb ladders, step and work in high places. Must be able to work in hot conditions.
