As a machine operator helper, you are a machine operator in training. You will be responsible for assistance with preparing materials and managing product output. Machine operator helpers are measured by their ability to maximize material use during the manufacturing process while minimizing waste or scrap. You must comply with company safety rules and regulations regarding machinery operation and assistance. This role requires bending, lifting, standing, walking throughout the shift. Essential Functions Statement(s) - Mark or discard items with defects such as spots, stains, scars, snags, chips, scratches, or unacceptable shapes or finishes. - Trim excess material or cut threads off finished products, such as cutting loose ends of plastic off a manufactured part for a smoother finish. - Cut, shape, and trim materials, such as rubber and plastic, using knives, scissors, and other hand tools, portable power tools, or bench-mounted tools. - Mark identification numbers, date, part number, revision, sizes, or model numbers on products. - Read work orders to determine dimensions, cutting locations, and quantities to cut. - Count or weight and bundle items. - Unroll, lay out, attach, or mount materials or items on cutting tables or machines. - Stacks cut items and load them on racks or conveyors. - Fold or shape materials before or after cutting them. - Clean, treat, buff, or polish finished items, using grinders, brushes, and cleaning solutions and polishing materials. - Position templates or measure materials to locate specified points of cuts or to obtain maximum yields, using patterns. - Route items to provide cutouts for parts, using grinders, and hand tools. - Transport items to work or storage areas, using carts.
