Department: Distribution / Warehouse Reports To: Warehouse Manager / Supervisor Summary: The General Warehouse Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient and accurate movement, storage, and distribution of goods within a warehouse environment. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and safety procedures. Responsibilities: Loading and Unloading: Manually or using equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts - if certified) load and unload trucks, containers, and other transport vehicles. Stocking and Organizing: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against packing lists. Sort, label, and store materials in designated warehouse locations, ensuring proper organization and accessibility. Order Picking and Packing: Locate and pick items from shelves or storage areas according to order sheets or electronic devices. Pack orders securely and efficiently for shipment, ensuring accuracy and preventing damage. Shipping and Receiving: Assist with the preparation of shipping documents, including labels and bills of lading. Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness. Inventory Management: Participate in regular inventory counts and cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels. Report any discrepancies or damages to supervisors. Warehouse Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Perform general housekeeping duties, including sweeping, dusting, and removing debris. Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and potentially forklifts (if certified). Perform basic equipment checks and report any maintenance needs. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately. Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments as needed. Other Duties: Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Previous warehouse experience is a plus, but not always required. On-the-job training may be provided. Ability to read and understand basic instructions, labels, and shipping documents. Basic math skills Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects Ability to stand long time periods.
