job summary:
The Purchasing Agent negotiates vendor terms, prices, quantities and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. Essential responsibilities and accountabilities 1. Adheres to purchasing policies, processes and procedures. 2. Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements. 3. Maintains a close eye on inventory to ensure on hand availability of material as well as helps coordinate product deliveries. 4. Audits vendor invoices, matches with supporting documentation, and provides accounting codes. 5. Keeps pricing and item set ups current and monitors trends to pricing. 6. Maintains and organizes physical files of current and past purchasing documents. 7. Monitors and orders goods and supplies for breakroom and personnel. 8. Maintains the supplier database with updated information. 9. Works to communicate directly or indirectly with various sales team members concerning availability. 10. Position is plant facing requiring timely communication with multiple departments. 11. Effectively manages customer service-related desk tickets that have been assigned. 12. Coordinates supplier concern activities and quality related issues. 13. Maintains and adheres to ISO procedures for departments 14. Looks for continuous improvement opportunities.
