Outbound Business Development Representative (1 year of Sales Development Representative experience is mandatory)

Our client is a leading innovator in API management, empowering businesses to become API-first and unlock new possibilities. Their technology connects the world's largest companies, enabling seamless interactions that drive growth and innovation.
They're looking for a number of passionate and driven Business Development Representatives (BDR) to join their team in the heart of Chicago's River North neighborhood. For this role, you will need 12 months of Sales Development experience to qualify. As a BDR, you'll be the first point of contact for potential customers, playing a crucial role in driving company growth. This outbound-focused position involves identifying and qualifying leads from various marketing channels, including events, webinars, and demo requests, and proactively sourcing new leads. You'll be responsible for scheduling meetings with qualified prospects, setting the stage for our Account Executives to deliver tailored solutions.
Successful candidates will be in office four days a week during their onboarding period, moving to 3 days a week following that. Initially you’ll start as an inbound BDR, with a clear pathway - managing a territory, promotion to Account Executive, and continued, structured progression beyond that step.

- $66.5k basic salary, with commission taking your total earnings up to $95k

The Role:
- Qualify and manage leads generated from marketing activities. This involves nurturing them through the sales funnel, ensuring they are effectively moved along the sales process.
- Manage your own territory and actively engage in outbound prospecting to identify and cultivate new leads.
- Engage with potential customers to understand their needs and challenges, and how Kong's solutions can provide a beneficial solution.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to ensure that Kong's solutions are a good fit for the customer's specific requirements.
- Work closely with Account Executives to ensure seamless handoffs and effective sales strategies. This includes keeping them informed about lead progress, sharing insights, and coordinating efforts to close deals.
The Requirements:
- A full 4 year Bachelor’s degree
- 1 year of SDR experience is mandatory
- Natural curiosity, strong communication skills, an easiness and persuasiveness when engaging with prospects
- Adaptable, enthusiastic and an excellent work ethic
- Competitive, you’ll enjoy working to clearly defined targets
