Job Description:
- As a Data Scientist in our team, your primary role will be to leverage your using analytical, statistical, and programmable skills to make sense of large amounts of data and complex datasets.
- You will be expected to work with energy usage data, hydraulic data, and pricing data to identify cost optimization strategies for a Fortune 500 midstream oil and gas company.
- Develop statistical models to identify cost saving opportunities.
- Use analytical tools to break down complex datasets to uncover patterns, insights, and trends.
- Work with SMEs and stakeholders to identify data modeling requirements and translate them into working datasets and models in data analysis tools.
- Collaborate with data engineering and software teams to integrate developed models into our system.
- Use visualization tools and spreadsheets to present data and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis and forecasting of various strategies and scenarios.
- Maintain clear communication with business stakeholders about findings and recommendations.
- BS/MS degree Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or another quantitative field.
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist.
- Good statistical background.
- Proficient in Python and SQL, with a great understanding of statistical models.
- Oil and gas industry experience especially in relation to hydraulics modeling (pump head, pump efficiency, pipeline head loss) would be a excellent asset.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power-BI is a plus.
