Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and modify control boards that incorporate FPGAs and CPUs, ensuring they fulfill project-specific requirements.
- Create comprehensive schematics and layout designs, optimizing for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and analyze low-voltage electrical circuits, including power management, signal processing, and control circuitry.
- Utilize simulation tools to model circuit behaviors and validate designs before physical prototyping.
- Integrate control boards with other system components to ensure compatibility and maximum performance across the entire system.
- Collaborate with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
- Design and develop various electrical equipment, focusing on meeting functional and performance specifications.
- Apply industry best practices in electronic design, including component selection, layout optimization, and thermal management.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as mechanical engineers, firmware developers, and project managers, to ensure successful project completion.
- Communicate technical concepts and project progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Direct the development of new products by coordinating specifications, prototype design, validation tests, and preparation of supporting documentation.
- Perform project feasibility and cost analysis and provide justification for projects.
- Prepare project plans and schedules, gathering input from team members and stakeholders.
- Execute tasks according to project schedules, ensuring 100% on-time delivery. Provide timely updates on project status.
- Lead cross-functional teams focused on product improvement, standardization, cost reduction, productivity enhancement, and cycle time reduction initiatives.
- Guide the disposition of non-conformances and lead engineering responses to corrective actions based on established design guidelines.
- Review the work of less-experienced designers and engineers, offering mentorship and support. Develop training programs for junior engineers.
- Ensure product compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. Develop strategies to achieve compliance and certification.
- Lead the preparation of technical papers and contribute to invention disclosures.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, technical conferences, and other events in support of marketing and sales efforts.
- May serve as a seated member of an industrial technical committee or advisory group, representing the company's technical perspectives.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the company.
- Comply with all company policies, including adherence to ISO 9001 standards
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Physical Science from an accredited four-year institution, with 8 to 12 years of related work experience, or a Master's or PhD degree (preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages relevant to board design and control systems (e.g., VHDL, Verilog, C/C++, Python).
- Experience in developing and debugging code for FPGA and CPU-based systems.
- 5 to 8 years of experience with relevant CAD, PDM, and/or simulation software.
- 3 to 5 years of experience applying industry standards.
- Proven experience writing technical papers, with preference for lead authorship.
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing projects, typically lasting up to one year, with teams of up to three members.
- strong ability to read and interpret various documents such as safety guidelines, standards, financial reports, legal papers, operating instructions, white papers, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in writing technical reports, white papers, and formal correspondence.
- Comfortable speaking effectively at conferences or presenting to groups of customers or employees.
