We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Manager of Outside Sales to lead and manage our outside sales team. The ideal candidate will have a background in sales, with an emphasis on IT solutions, and proven leadership experience. This individual will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving sales performance, and ensuring that the sales team meets its objectives. The Manager of Outside Sales will also provide ongoing training, implement strategies to increase market share, and support the development of long-term client relationships.
Essential Functions
- Lead Daily Operations: Direct and oversee the daily activities of the outside sales department, ensuring workflow efficiency, establishing priorities, setting deadlines, and developing performance standards.
- KPI Management: Monitor, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess department performance, identify trends, and optimize processes.
- Sales Goal Achievement: Ensure that the sales team consistently meets or exceeds their sales goals and quotas. Set clear expectations and implement strategies to achieve targets.
- Goal and Policy Development: Develop, interpret, and communicate departmental goals, policies, and procedures to the team. Provide guidance on how to meet organizational sales objectives.
- Team Training & Development: Provide regular training and professional development opportunities to sales team members. Offer mentorship and support to ensure skill growth and improved performance.
- Sales Strategy Implementation: Create and implement sales initiatives designed to increase overall sales and market penetration.
- Collaboration Across Departments: Work closely with other departments (e.g., marketing, customer support) to ensure seamless sales flow and offer additional support in client decision-making.
- Market Share Growth: Develop and implement strategies aimed at increasing the company's market share within the IT industry.
- Follow-up and Client Engagement: Ensure that team members follow up with potential customers in a timely and effective manner to maximize conversions.
- Sales Analysis & Reporting: Generate reports and conduct sales data analysis to measure team performance, identify areas for improvement, and inform strategic decisions.
- Escalated Client Support: Handle escalated client objections and concerns, providing resolution and support to the sales team.
- Education: BA/BS degree in Sales, Business, Communications, Marketing, Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in outside sales, with a preference for IT-related sales. A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence internal stakeholders and manage client relationships effectively.
- Sales Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team, set clear objectives, and provide guidance through the sales process, from lead generation to closing.
- IT Knowledge: Foundational understanding of information technology, including hardware, software, and IT services.
- Business Acumen: Comprehensive knowledge of business operations and sales strategies, with the ability to create realistic projections and sales objectives.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and team collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments
