A leading financial services company is expanding its market reach and evolving into a multi-product organization. Core lending systems, operating on IBM iSeries and zSeries, play a critical role in originations and servicing. As part of a modernization strategy, the company is rearchitecting these platforms to enhance cross-product functionality, improve reliability, and accelerate cloud adoption.
We are seeking a Director of Core Lending Systems to lead this transformation. This leader will oversee the engineering teams responsible for platform modernization, ensuring the technology strategy aligns with business objectives.

responsibilities:
Technology & Platform Leadership
- Define and implement a strategic roadmap for platform evolution, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Lead the transition from on-prem IBM iSeries and zSeries to hybrid cloud solutions, leveraging AWS.
- Develop best practices for enterprise service bus, orchestration engines, and front-end integrations (Java, Ruby, etc.).
- Drive DevOps and automation initiatives, enhancing CI/CD pipelines and quality engineering practices.
- Establish clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that align platform initiatives with product priorities.
- Build a seamless integration model between platform teams and product teams to accelerate development cycles.
- Make strategic recommendations on platform investments, balancing innovation with operational needs.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop top engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical craftsmanship.
- Assess team capabilities, ensuring the right mix of skills to drive modernization efforts.
- Promote a self-service platform model that empowers product teams while providing expert support for complex use cases.
qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams, including employee/contractor models.
- Proven track record of leading cloud transformation efforts in a hybrid on-prem/cloud environment.
- Expertise in IBM iSeries, zSeries, and AWS, with a deep understanding of enterprise lending systems.
- Strong background in iterative development methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, Agile).
- Experience with third-party vendor selection and negotiations.
- Skilled in delivering C-suite and board-level presentations on technology strategy.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

- Strong familiarity with cloud-based and on-prem integration patterns.
- Experience delivering strategic presentations to C-suite and board leadership, as well as public speaking experience as a technology domain leader.
- Supported organizations with multiple lines of business, with systems and products that have both vertical and cross-cutting business aspects.
