The Research Engineer is responsible for researching and investigating the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, systems, equipment, and processes. This role combines design, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure the optimal performance of mechanical systems, while also providing technical support for applications and infrastructure.

responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Research, design, develop, and test mechanical tools, engines, machines, and devices.
- Analysis & Feasibility: Research and analyze customer design proposals and specifications to determine time and cost feasibility for completing projects.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Investigate equipment failures, diagnose issues, and provide recommendations to the maintenance team.
- Collaboration: Work with drafters to develop structural designs using tools, equipment, or software.
- Technical Support: Answer field questions related to Cat ET and Remote Troubleshoot applications. Collaborate with internal development and application engineers to resolve escalated technical issues.
- Infrastructure Support: Provide both application and infrastructure support, including troubleshooting and performing basic hardware tasks such as pulling hard drives and swapping memory on PCs.

Critical Technical Skills:
2 - 5 years experience supporting PC Software Service Now experience. Microsoft Office Product experience
- Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience with VMware for managing virtual machines and infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows OS and Windows Licensing (customizations such as troubleshooting, assigning activation IDs, and resetting activation IDs on servers).
- Basic hardware troubleshooting experience, including pulling hard drives, swapping memory, and general PC maintenance.
- Strong customer service experience, with the ability to resolve issues effectively and professionally.
- Experience with application support and infrastructure support.
skills: Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required. 2 + year technical degree in computers / electronics is preferred. 2-4 years experience required.
Additional Job Details:
In the role, the successful candidate will be a third level support engineer and answer field questions related to Client troubleshooting software and the Remote Troubleshoot applications. They will work with internal development and application engineers when needed to answer technical questions that are escalated from the second level support team.
