responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide vision and direction for the planning, development, and execution of the technical data management strategy, aligning with overall IT and business objectives.
- Governance Framework Development & Implementation: Direct the implementation of technical solutions supporting data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls across data engineering teams.
- Data Quality & Integrity: Establish and monitor enterprise data quality standards, overseeing validation, cleansing, and reconciliation processes to ensure trusted and reliable data.
- Metadata & Master Data Management: Define and implement solutions for data cataloging, metadata management, and master data management (MDM) to enhance data understanding and consistency.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, BCBS 239) and internal compliance policies, collaborating with legal, risk, and compliance teams to mitigate data-related risks.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Influence: Partner with business leaders, IT teams, and data professionals to champion the value of data governance and drive the adoption of best practices.
- Team Leadership & Development: Direct and mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in data management practices.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors to ensure effective integration of data management tools and solutions.
- Financial Stewardship: Contribute to budget planning and management related to data management initiatives.
qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, data governance, data architecture, or related technical fields within complex organizations.
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DCAM) and industry best practices.
- Hands-on experience with data management tools and technologies (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend, Microsoft Purview, Snowflake).
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data privacy, security, and compliance within the financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and drive enterprise-wide data governance initiatives.
- Solid technical acumen with data architectures, cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), APIs, and data integration methodologies.
