job summary:
We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to define and implement the testing strategy for a client application modernization project. You will set up the automation framework using Playwright, develop and maintain test cases, and execute a range of tests-except for unit tests, which are the developers' responsibility. While the client owns UAT, you'll provide support and guidance to ensure UAT aligns with the broader testing strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Testing Framework & Strategy
Establish and maintain the Playwright-based automation framework, enabling efficient and scalable test execution.
Define test strategies for integration, functional, and end-to-end testing in collaboration with the development team and the Architect.
Test Case Development & Execution
Create and maintain detailed test cases for new features, enhancements, and regression testing.
Execute automated and manual tests, documenting results and reporting issues to the development team.
Collaborate with developers to ensure unit test coverage is appropriate, focusing your efforts on integration and functional layers.
UAT Support
Provide testing expertise and best practices guidance for client-led User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution during UAT, without taking direct ownership of the process.
Defect Tracking & Reporting
Track defects from detection to resolution, ensuring clear documentation and follow-up.
Provide regular test status updates during stand-ups, planning, and retrospectives, highlighting potential risks or blockers.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, reviews, retrospectives), offering insights on quality metrics and improvements.
Work closely with the Scrum Master, Delivery Director, and other stakeholders to optimize test processes, ensuring alignment with Bessemer's compliance requirements.
qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience
Automation Expertise
2+ years of experience with Playwright (or comparable frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines to integrate automated tests for continuous delivery.
Testing Fundamentals
7+ years in QA/QE roles, focusing on integration, functional, and end-to-end testing.
Strong test case design, requirements analysis, and defect triage experience.
Technical Acumen
Ability to read code (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred) for close collaboration with developers.
Experience with API testing (Postman, REST Assured) and SQL queries to validate data integrity.
Financial/Regulatory Environment
Experience testing applications in regulated environments (e.g., financial services) is a plus, particularly with compliance and security considerations.

Excellent communication and collaboration-able to partner with cross-functional, distributed Agile teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, comfortable with complex workflows stemming from a legacy MS Access system.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of MS Access or VB for Access to understand legacy logic.
Exposure to micro front-end architectures, Choreo-based APIs, or direct database integration in a QA context.
