responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive strategies and operational plans for Clinical Affairs, Operations, Healthcare Delivery, and Information Technology (IT) functional areas, aligning with the overall Fund vision and objectives.
- Financial Performance & Cost Management: Identify, lead, and monitor strategic initiatives focused on improving financial performance, managing medical costs effectively, and enhancing the overall value proposition for plan members.
- Quality & Access Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for our diverse membership, ensuring optimal health outcomes and satisfaction.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Clinical Affairs, Operations, Healthcare Delivery, and IT leadership to establish, refine, and monitor key performance and regulatory metrics, fostering a data-driven and results-oriented culture.
- Market Intelligence & Innovation: Maintain a deep understanding of national healthcare market trends, regulatory changes, and innovative solutions to inform Fund strategy, operations, and performance, ensuring Aurora remains at the forefront of healthcare delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders, including Trustees, Union leadership, and network partners, to gain input, build consensus, and convey Fund initiatives related to plan finances, benefit design, and operations.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Collaborate with Legal counsel to ensure all Fund functions adhere to ERISA and all pertinent federal and state regulations, mitigating potential risks and ensuring operational integrity.
- Vision & Strategy Development: Work collaboratively with Fund leadership and the Board of Trustees to define the long-term vision, develop strategic priorities, and establish ambitious yet achievable goals for the Aurora plan.
- Synergy & Collaboration: Partner with leadership and staff of the Las Vegas Plan to identify and leverage opportunities for synergy, shared resources, and addressing mutual concerns across both plans.
- Committee Leadership: Serve, by CEO appointment, as a valued member of the Fund's Employee Benefits and Investment Committees for Staff Plan administration purposes, contributing to critical organizational decisions.
- Team Leadership & Development: Oversee all aspects of human resources for assigned positions and areas, including employment decisions, staffing, promotions, compensation, performance management, talent development, and succession planning, fostering a high-performance and engaged workforce.
- Financial Accountability: Develop and manage budgets, analyze financial variances, implement corrective actions, and ensure the achievement of financial goals for assigned areas.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Champion the Fund's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) principles in all interactions, partnering with senior leadership and staff to cultivate a safe, inclusive culture with equitable opportunities for success and career growth.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Health Plan Administration, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within a health plan environment, demonstrating a strong working knowledge and financial understanding of health benefit plans, healthcare delivery systems, pharmacy plans, managed care contracting, member engagement and education, and operational performance and supporting systems.
- Minimum of 5+ years of executive-level leadership experience with a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives and achieving measurable results.
- Seasoned experience in a managed care environment is highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of operations and general administration associated with managing a health plan and ERISA benefit plans.
- Comprehensive understanding of current healthcare trends and statistical measures of healthcare performance.
- Familiarity with Taft-Hartley Trust Funds is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of relevant benefits regulations, including ERISA, DOL, IRS, COBRA, and HIPAA, is highly preferred.
- Exceptional business acumen, particularly in the areas of finance, information technology and operational systems, strategic planning, budgeting, and project management.
- Proven experience leading and developing seasoned staff across a broad geographic area.
