JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer (QE) shall ensure that products conform with established quality standards that meet or exceed customer expectations through the utilization of standardized work practices, quality processes, equipment improvements, and effective measurements.
The Quality Engineer shall facilitate the reduction of the cost of quality by reducing waste created from defects, over-processing, or incorrect processing. The QE is also a team representative in our pursuit and attainment of the ISO 9001:2015 goals of 'Customer Satisfaction' and 'Continual Improvement.'
The activities of the QE include designing and implementing quality control systems, developing and conducting tests, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with teams to implement corrective actions when needed. The QE will be responsible for CMM programming and improving current programs. The QE shall also conduct audits of manufacturing processes and materials to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulations, and standards.
Key essentials of the QE include maintaining a safe, hazard-free work environment, planning and assigning work, enforcing policies and procedures, maintaining product quality standards, and recommending improvements for inspection methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.

responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
? Maintains a positive, team environment relationship with employees
? Maintains workflow of quality inspections by monitoring steps of the inspection process; studying
inspection methods; developing and implementing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating
corrective actions; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
? Provides quality KPI's by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing inspection and measurement
data; reports results to management
? Creates, implements, and revises procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping
systems, and forms of control
? Maintains safe and clean work environment; enforces compliance with established safety policies,
procedures
? Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviews
professional publications; establishes personal networks; benchmarks state-of-the-art practices
CMM Programming:
? Develop and optimize measurement programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using
Zeiss Calypso software.
? Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
requirements to create measurement routines that accurately capture dimensional data.
? Utilize advanced features and capabilities of CMM software to automate measurement processes,
improve efficiency, and minimize programming time.
? Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand component requirements,
inspection criteria, and any special measurement considerations.
? Experience in programming strategies such as pallet programming, positional programming, para-
file programming is a plus
? Improve current CMM programs
Quality
? Support and help maintain ISO 9001:2015 Race Winning Brands Quality Management System
? Conduct Internal Audits and initiate and facilitate resulting corrective actions
? Routinely support daily material review board (MRB) discussions. Reviews & develops reports for
Non-Conformance that focus on quality improvements
? Support measures and track quality KPI's and cost of quality
? Lead customer claim discussion. Identifies and assigns appropriate actions to contain & correct,
identify root causes and implement corrective actions
? Investigate customer complaints and initiate containment and corrective actions
? Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to inspections, and measuring devices
? Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering to train, certify, and audit production employees
? Assist with incorporation of tools to monitor and document compliance of requirements and
procedures including incoming quality inspections
? Facilitate and Participate in APQP projects of new product, process and major product or process
changes
? Prepare customer or internal required documents such as FAI's, PPAP's, 8D's, Inspection
Certifications, Gage GR&R, MSA's and Capability Studies
? Assist in the development, implementation, and adherence of inspection procedures
? Ensure the calibration of all measuring and test equipment
? Maintain quality records in accordance with established procedures
? Prepares internal and external Technical Quality Reports when required
Processes
? Participate/Lead process improvement projects using lean tools:
o Support 6S
o Conduct root cause analysis of problems to identify appropriate solutions by using the 8D
method approach
o Identify and decrease opportunities that create waste
o Identify and decrease process variation
? Help to develop and implement measurement systems to track and improve processes
? Able to create and implement work instructions for current and new processes
qualifications:
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Education: Two-year Associate's Degree in an Engineering discipline or greater is required
Experience:
? 5 years in a Quality Engineering role is required
? 5 years of ISO 9001:2015 experience is required
? Competency in and ability to interpret GD;T is required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
? Required CMM Programming Certificate(s) (preferably Calypso)
? Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus
?Certified ISO9001 Lead Auditor is a plus
skills: Communication Skills:
?Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to
communicate with multiple levels of the organization
? Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems and concepts and make
decisions that are sensible and based on available information
? Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
? Ability read and interpret GD&T tolerancing
Computer Skills:
? Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
? Experience using MAS 500 (or other MRP/ERP system)
