responsibilities:
As a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of the college's critical technology infrastructure. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Infrastructure Management: Administering, maintaining, and securing on-premise and cloud-based servers, virtual machines, and network infrastructure to guarantee seamless operations.
- Proactive Security & Compliance: Participating in regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, and contributing to the development and execution of disaster recovery plans.
- Cloud Optimization & Scalability: Managing and optimizing cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and implementing robust backup and recovery strategies.
- Automation & Efficiency: Developing and deploying automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, SQL) to streamline repetitive tasks, enhance efficiency, and minimize manual intervention.
- Software Deployment & Management: Overseeing and optimizing software deployments utilizing tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager or Intune.
- Research & Academic Support: Collaborating with faculty and researchers to facilitate the selection, implementation, and support of specialized research software and hardware.
- Collaborative Technology Ecosystem: Working closely with the Network Engineer, Desktop Support team, and other IT professionals to ensure cohesive and effective technology operations across the institution.
- Technology Foresight & Innovation: Researching and evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML in IT, edge computing) to identify opportunities for strategic adoption and improvement.
- Strategic IT Contribution: Contributing to the development and implementation of the college's overarching IT strategic plans.
- System Health & Performance: Proactively monitoring system performance, identifying potential issues, and implementing timely resolutions to maintain optimal uptime.
- Technical Guidance & Support: Providing expert technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students, fostering a technologically empowered campus community.
qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a Systems Administrator role.
- Essential proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python for automation.
- A strong and demonstrable understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their associated security best practices.

- Hands-on experience in managing backup and recovery processes, along with the development and execution of disaster recovery plans.
- Solid experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- A fundamental understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
