The Controller will report directly to the CFO and serve as a key leader in managing the company's accounting operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP, driving strategic financial initiatives, and enhancing overall financial performance.
Leading a team of 6 accounting professionals, the Controller will focus on streamlining operational efficiency, optimizing financial processes, and contributing to the company's growth objectives. A hands-on CPA Controller with proven expertise within a manufacturing environment is required.

responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership across all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and alignment with GAAP.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, debt management, regulatory reporting, and audits to support organizational objectives and maintain compliance.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting initiatives by implementing advanced software solutions, analyzing variances, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to enhance financial performance and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, while proactively managing tax planning and addressing complex issues in collaboration with external advisors.
- Supervise and mentor a team of six, fostering a high-performance culture through goal setting, performance evaluations, and tailored professional development.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth daily operations and maintain efficiency.
- Enhance financial processes and operational efficiency by establishing robust internal controls, managing cash flow, and optimizing ERP systems.
- Oversee payroll operations, implementing best practices and technologies to ensure accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the executive team and cross-functional departments to align financial strategy with organizational goals, support business growth, and provide actionable insights through data-driven financial analysis.
qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and an active CPA certification are required.
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role managing an accounting department, is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cost accounting practices, including cost analysis and optimization to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
- Proven experience as a hands-on Controller with a positive attitude and a friendly, approachable personality that fosters team collaboration.
- Advanced expertise in GAAP principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, with a strong foundation in tax compliance, planning, and reporting.
- Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and developing finance teams, effectively balancing strategic vision with practical, hands-on execution.
- Significant experience in payroll management and tax-related functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance.
