Job Summary: The Forkflit Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and repairing diesel, LP, and electric units. This includes servicing engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and other critical equipment, ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities: PM Diesel & LP: Perform regular maintenance, including greasing, lubrication, oil changes, air and fuel filter replacement, and safety inspections. Bleed fuel systems and return units to service. PM Electric: Maintain electric motors, grease and lube units, check motor brushes, and perform safety inspections. Electrical & System Maintenance: Replace starters, check flywheels, alternators, belts, and test ignition and charging systems. Cylinder & Motor Maintenance: Repack hydraulic cylinders and replace motor brushes. Stone motor armatures to remove carbon buildup. Contactor & Battery Service: Change contactor assemblies and test batteries (automotive to industrial sizes). Replace battery terminals, chargers, and connectors. Tire & Wheel Maintenance: Replace tires, load wheels, and inspect steering components for wear. Cooling & Hydraulic Systems: Replace radiators, thermostats, water pumps, hoses, and hydraulic lines. Tune-Ups & Fuel System: Perform tune-ups (plugs, wires, coils) and prime diesel fuel systems as needed. Change LP regulators and propane connections. Brake System: Complete brake jobs, including replacing cylinders, seals, shoes, and bleeding brakes. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues like no start, overheating, battery problems, and leaks. Tools: Maintain a comprehensive set of mechanic tools for all tasks.
