job summary: A Structural Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. The role requires advanced 3D modeling (SP3D/MicroStation), ensuring constructability and code compliance (AISC, ACI), supervising drawing production, and mentoring junior staff. location: Houston, Texas job type: Contract salary: $59.35 - 77.03 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Perform or administer the Civil/Structural design scope for assigned projects.Supervise and/or be responsible for construction drawings extracted from the 3D model (the final issue product).Perform 3D design reviews, resolve conflicts, and solve constructability problems.Perform and/or review advanced level structural or reinforcing steel detailing (in-house or sub-contractor work).Prepare design/drafting procedures and standards, and recommend work process improvements.Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of design drawings.Assist in preparing cost estimates and quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change-orders.Provide technical guidance to subordinate designers, drafters, and technicians.Participate in annual performance reviews, coaching, training, and career development planning. Skills: Knowledge of CAD systems, design software, and computers.Experience in 3D modeling with SP3D, FrameWorks, or similar systems, and MicroStation.Practical knowledge of industry standards for Structural steel connections, Reinforcing steel fabrication, and Piling methods.Practical knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE, AWS codes/standards (Euro, Indian, and Australian codes are a plus).Application of company standard design details, OSHA/client safety standards, and applicable codes.May be required to prepare or check as-built drawings.
