job summary: A Control Systems Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Houston, TX area. This role leads and supports the design and drafting of instrumentation systems for major industrial projects using 2D/3D tools, ensuring compliance with standards, supervising design teams, and contributing technical expertise in petrochemical, power, and infrastructure sectors. location: Houston, Texas job type: Contract salary: $51.40 - 66.71 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Provides operational supervision to designers/drafters; assigns lead roles and ensures staffing.2D/3D CAD models.Layouts and detailed construction drawings.Develops work plans, material estimates, and project schedules.Supervises preparation of material requisitions and bid evaluations.Ensures designs comply with engineering codes, safety, and construction standards.Coordinates or performs jobsite visits and interprets technical drawings/documents.Prepares progress reports, evaluates engineering scope changes.Guides team in Standard Application Programs and maintains up-to-date knowledge.Conducts on-the-job training, performance reviews, and career development discussions. Skills: Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities.Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline.Knowledge of procedures used for the procurement and quantity control of bulk materials applicable to the discipline.Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.Broad knowledge of 2-D and 3-D computer aided drafting (CAD) tools.Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.Demonstrated skill in organizing and supervising.
