job summary: An Associate Distribution Engineer is needed for an American defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company in the Irving, TX area. The Associate Distribution Engineer supports the design and development of electrical distribution systems by preparing engineering packages, performing field and office work, and collaborating with clients and internal teams, while gaining hands-on experience in tools, standards, and career development programs. location: Irving, Texas job type: Contract salary: $19.74 - 30.00 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Develop electrical design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV-138kV).Support design projects related to overloaded transformers, maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.Conduct field visits for inspections and then complete corresponding design tasks in the office.Perform structural and electrical calculations (e.g., pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop).Create permitting documents and support work permit, easement, and right-of-way (ROW) applications.Provide construction support and post-construction review to ensure compliance with engineering standards.Conduct root cause analysis of outages and recommend engineering-based solutions.Train and work with client tools such as GE Smallworld, Bentley Expert Designer, Maximo, GIS, and WMS.Training in utility engineering and construction standards.Gain experience with project and financial management and client design standards. Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.strong communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills. Desired Skills: Experience with distribution design tools (BOUD, Pole foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc).Familiarity with CAD, MicroStation, and GIS software.Knowledge of NESC and utility design standards.
