We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of the payroll function. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll, tax withholdings, garnishments, and deductions, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a background in payroll systems, team development, and continuous process improvement. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of payroll processing experience, including leadership or management responsibilities. Proficiency with PeopleSoft North American Payroll (v8.8 or higher), including payroll table configuration and complex query writing, preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of payroll tax processes (quarterly, annual, W2/W2C), garnishments, and manual payroll adjustments. Experience executing test scripts for payroll system updates and functionality enhancements. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation. Prior experience with payroll integrations related to mergers and acquisitions. Oversee accurate processing of payroll including earnings, deductions, bonuses, retroactive payments, and off-cycle checks. Conduct payroll audits during processing to ensure accuracy (e.g., rapid pay sheet and bonus uploads). Serve as a key point of contact for Accounting/Finance and Human Resources departments regarding payroll data and reporting. Maintain payroll data tables within HRIS systems and manage related interfaces for time and attendance. Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations, particularly for mergers and acquisitions. Execute monthly payroll interfaces to the general ledger and coordinate quarterly and annual payroll tax filings. Lead year-end payroll processing including the production and distribution of W-2s. Implement process improvements and system enhancements to optimize payroll operations. Coach and mentor payroll staff, ensuring alignment with performance standards and development goals. Manage hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and overall team engagement. Represent the payroll function in cross-functional projects and labor systems meetings.
