job summary: A Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a technology company that designs and manufactures connectors and sensors for several industries, such as automotive, industrial equipment, data communication systems, and more, in the Wilsonville, OR area. This role leads and optimizes stamping, molding, and assembly processes, develops new manufacturing and automation platforms, and ensures manufacturability for new products, acting as a key interface between engineering and production. location: Wilsonville, Oregon job type: Contract salary: $30.46 - 43.91 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Process Leadership: Leads stamping, molding, assembly, or other manufacturing processes.Ensures optimum levels of quality and output for processes. Manufacturing Expertise: Expert in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and other manufacturing tooling.Expert in assembly techniques.Possesses extensive knowledge of associated manufacturing processes.Includes optimization and standardization of stamping/molding/assembly processes. Operational Alignment & Improvement: Aligns company Business Unit (BU) plants to meet TEOA (Total Excellence in Operations) requirements.Rolls out Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs).Advises plants on tool and machine duplications, corrections, and improvements. Process & Automation Development: Designs and develops manufacturing process platforms.Designs and develops automation platforms.Applies platforms for new product developments.Applies platforms for optimization of existing products in production. System Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of applicable company systems (e.g., SAP, TLM, CAD). Product Development Support: Supports Product Development in selecting and optimizing tools for piece part production.Supports Product Development in selecting the most suitable manufacturing concepts based on: Planned manufacturing quantitiesQuality requirementsManufacturing location Interface & Manufacturability: Acts as the interface between engineering and manufacturing/production.Ensures manufacturability of new designs.Ensures smooth production ramp-up. Research & Development Support: Supports R&D teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples, and prototypes. Scope of Impact/Business: Develops individual products or specific elements of medium-sized projects.Manages technical elements while maintaining performance and schedule.Typically a core team member on projects. Knowledge, Skills & Innovation: Technical Tools Competency: Competent in using technical tools specific to the job function (e.g., CAD, CAE, industrial or quality engineering tools). General Engineering Tools (Basic Knowledge): Basic knowledge of LEAN or 6-Sigma tools (e.g., DoE - Design of Experiments, FMEA - Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, QFD - Quality Function Deployment).
